Forthcoming dates and times:
A 6 week course Starting on Monday 14th September. 7pm - 9pm. ( Finishing on Monday 2nd November as there will be a 2 week break to allow for drying and firing in the kiln.)
Or
Starting on Tuesday 15th September. 10am - 12 midday. ( Finishing on Tuesday 27th October as there will be a 1 week break to allow for drying and firing in the kiln.)
THE COURSE DETAILS
Week 1: Welcome and Introduction.
You will be given a step by step demonstration on the wheel and then it is your turn. Having your own wheel for the duration and plenty of clay.
You will concentrate on centring the clay, opening the hole up and raising the wall of your pots into mug and cylinder shapes.
Class sizes are small, so plenty of help and guidance is on hand.
Week 2: More step by step demonstrations looking at bowl shapes.
Practicing skills learned the previous week.
Week 3: Developing all skills learned on the wheel. The chance to use larger amounts of clay too.
Week 4: Step by step demonstration on trimming leather hard pots. It is then your turn to trim the 4 pots you have chosen to keep. Others can be kept at a cost of £5 per pot.
Week 5: Demonstrations on surface decoration, carving, handle making and attaching. Plenty of help and guidance is on hand to help you work on your pieces.
Week 6: After 1 or 2 weeks break to let all pots dry and be bisque fired, It is now glazing time. You will be introduced to many glazes and techniques. Plenty of information and guidance is on hand to help you glaze your pots.
4 - 6 weeks later your masterpieces will be ready for collection. They can be posted out for an extra cost if you are unable to collect.
Cost: £330 per person which includes 4 finished pots. Extra pots can be kept at a cost of £5 per pot.
Refreshments will be offered while being given an introduction to the workshop.
All materials, kiln firings and aprons are included in the price.
